New Delhi, September 14, 2024 – RPI National Organization General Secretary Dr. Rajeev Menon has publicly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s controversial comments made during his U.S. visit, where he suggested that India might reconsider its reservation policy once it achieves justice. Dr. Menon asserted that the reservation system, as guaranteed by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution, is a cornerstone of social equality for Dalit, Tribal, OBC, and Backward Classes, and it cannot be undone.

Addressing the media, Dr. Menon stated, “The reservation system is as enduring as the sun and the moon. No individual or party has the power to erase the rights that our Constitution has granted to millions of marginalized communities.”

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, made during a session with students at Georgetown University, sparked widespread controversy. In response to a question regarding the future of the reservation system, Gandhi stated that he would consider its abolition when India becomes a just society. Dr. Menon, however, sees this as a dangerous precedent and a threat to the existing social justice framework.

Dr. Menon also raised concerns over recent visits to the U.S. by opposition leaders such as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. He suggested that these visits, particularly by Gandhi, may be part of covert attempts to undermine India’s federal system and disrupt upcoming elections.

In response to these developments, the Republican Party, led by National President and Union Social Justice Minister Ramdas Athawale, has announced a series of protests. Starting from Delhi, these demonstrations will be organized nationwide to protect the reservation system and oppose any moves to dilute India’s constitutional values.

The RPI is determined to hold Rahul Gandhi accountable for his statements and will continue to advocate for the preservation of the reservation system for marginalized communities.
