Ernakulam: The shooting of the Malayalam film Cake Story, featuring renowned writer, filmmaker, and producer Dr. Rajeev Menon in a guest role, has been completed in Kochi. Dr. Rajeev Menon is the National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India, lead by Union Minister Ramdas Athawale.
Directed by hitmaker Sunil Karanthur, Cake Story marks his return to filmmaking after a break. Sunil, known for successful films like Maanthe Kottaram, Alanchery Thambrakkal, Vriddhamaare Soochikkuka, Priyapetta Kukku, Chanda, Bharanakoottam, and Gandhari, helms the project under the banners of Chithravedh Reels and JKR Films.
The movie stars Vedha Sunil, daughter of director Sunil Karanthur, in a key role. Vedha, who has previously worked as an assistant director in four films and as an editor in another, has also written the screenplay for Cake Story, making it her debut as a writer. The film explores the significance of cakes in people’s lives and how they foster friendships.
Veteran actor Ashokan plays another major role in the film. The star-studded cast also includes Babu Antony, Johny Antony, Major Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh, Arun Kumar, Mallika Sukumaran, Neena Kurup, Saju Kodiyan, Dinesh Panicker, Dominic, Ansar Kalabhavan, T.S. Saji, Govind, Ashin, Jithu, Gokul, Sangeetha Kingsley, Janani Saji, Amrita Jayanth, Sindhu Jayanth, and Vidya Vishwanath. Additionally, foreign actors Joseph (USA), Milik (Serbia), Luce (California), and Nastya (Moscow) are part of the ensemble. Notably, Tamil actor Redin Kingsley is making his Malayalam film debut with a significant role in Cake Story.
The film’s technical team includes cinematographers R.H. Ashok and Pradeep Nair, music directors Jerry Amaldev and S.P. Venkatesh, editor M.S. Ayyappan Nair, and production designer N.M. Badusha. The film’s lyrics are penned by Vinayak Sasikumar and Santhosh Varma, while Sajeesh Thamarassery handles art direction. Costume design is by Arun Manohar, and makeup is by Kalamandalam Vaishakh and Siju Krishna. The associate director is Nidheesh Iritty, with assistant directors Harris Hamsa, Praji Subrahmanian, and Rahul K.M. Stills are handled by Shalu Peyad, and PR is managed by Athira Diljith.
