From the coastal city of Kozhikode in Kerala to the capital of Oman, Faaxy has quietly built a musical path that reflects both his South Indian roots and the diverse influences of his adopted home.

Born Cheru Kunnath Paijas in 1982, Faaxy moved to Muscat in his teenage years after his family relocated to the Sultanate. Like many young migrants, he initially followed a more traditional academic path, completing a postgraduate diploma in computer applications from NIELIT in 2002, followed by a degree in computer science from Don Bosco in 2003. Despite working in the tech field, music remained a steady presence in his life.

In 2013, he began producing tracks from a small studio setup in Muscat, experimenting with elements of pop, hip-hop, and ambient sound design. His early releases flew under the radar, but over time, his work began to draw attention in niche online spaces.

His 2021 single “Faaxy Code” marked a turning point. Self-produced and independently released, the track introduced listeners to his layered vocal style and atmospheric production. The following year, Faaxy released “You Are The One,” accompanied by a video shot in various natural locations across Oman, including the Ad Dimaniyat Islands and Jebel Shams. The video has since crossed 100,000 views across digital platforms, and was noted locally for showcasing lesser-known parts of the country.

Faaxy says the video wasn’t just about the song — it was also a way to reflect his connection with Oman. “I’ve lived most of my adult life here. It felt right to include that part of my story visually,” he shared in a previous interview.

Apart from his musical releases, he has remained engaged with his cultural roots. In 2023, Faaxy attended Onam celebrations in Noida, India, joining other Malayali expatriates and artists in marking the harvest festival. The event, covered by local media, featured performances rooted in Kerala’s traditional forms like Kathak and Karli fight demonstrations.

His discography includes albums such as Tempting (2019), Let Me Say a Little (2021), and In The Darkness (2021). He has independently released more than a dozen singles on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.

While he maintains a low public profile, Faaxy continues to work on music, often balancing it with freelance web development work — a nod to his technical background. His official website, www.faaxy.com, serves as a home for his discography, videos, and updates.

Though not widely known in mainstream circles, Faaxy represents a growing group of independent South Asian artists creating outside of conventional industry systems — quietly, consistently, and often across borders.
