In the early hours of 26 January 2026, a fire that broke out in a neighbouring warehouse spread to one of Wow! Momo’s warehouse units in Anandpur, Kolkata, causing extensive damage to the facility.
Wow! Momo operated a 12,000 sq ft warehouse at the location, which was used for storing packaging materials, various beverages, and other essential supplies. Sources said the warehouse was on a rented premises, and the landlord also owns the larger decorators’ godown from where the fire is believed to have originated.
At the time of the incident, two employees were working inside the warehouse, along with a security guard deployed by an outsourced agency. All three lost their lives in the fire.
According to a company representative, the blaze appears to have started in the adjacent godown. “The fire spread rapidly to our warehouse and damaged the fire exit, cutting off a possible escape route,” the representative said.
The company team has been on-ground since 3:30 am on 26th till now and spoken to authorities, families and take all steps to protect family’s interest.
“The unit was equipped with 23 fire extinguishers and was largely compliant with fire safety norms, with all required approvals in place. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
Our thoughts are with the deceased, and we have committed to providing full support to their families, both now and in the future,” a company spokesperson said.
