Education

The School of Engineering & Technology at Apeejay Stya University (ASU) recently held a highly enriching two-day drone development workshop at the university premises, wherein young learners explored and engaged with the cutting-edge technology required in the fascinating world of Drones.

More than 30 participants from across Delhi-NCR attended the workshop. Students expressed gratitude for the enriching learning experience, acknowledging the workshop’s role in enhancing their skills and understanding of drone technology. Focus on technology and research integrated education is integral to the approach to education at ASU.

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Mr. Sagar Gupta, CEO and Founder of Indian Robotics Solutions. Those present from ASU included Vice Chancellor Professor Vijay Vir Singh, Professor Moinuddin, Prof Chetan Chaudhary (Registrar) and Prof A.K. Goel (Dean Academics)

The workshop provided students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in drone development. They learned about different types of drones, component selection criteria, and the legal aspects of drone operation in India. Practical sessions included assembly of GPS and flight controllers, culminating in successful drone trials.

Drones have emerged as powerful tools with applications ranging from surveillance and agriculture to filmmaking and disaster management. ASU envisioned that educating students about drone technology will not only enhance their skills but also prepare them for future opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.

As per industry survey reports, the drones market worldwide is projected to grow rapidly (2024-2028) resulting in a market volume of US$4.7bn in 2028. Thus, it is certain that the demand for professionals equipped with drone technology will only be growing.

The two-day event ended with the valedictory function during which certificates were distributed to participants and coordinators by Vice Chancellor Prof. Vijay Vir Singh and other dignitaries. With practical insights and theoretical knowledge, participants left the workshop equipped to contribute meaningfully to the ever-expanding field of drone technology.
