Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], January 22: Lomharsh’s 25-minute short film Planet has emerged victorious, winning the Best Short Film Fiction Award at the 17th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF). The film, which delves deep into the global climate crisis, tells the compelling story of five children who embark on a journey to save the Earth after witnessing the devastating effects of global warming.

Planet is unique not only in its message but also in its portrayal of the impact of climate change through the eyes of young protagonists. The film’s narrative is born from the innovative teaching methods of a teacher who inspires her students to truly understand the scale of environmental destruction. Realizing the insufficient efforts from adults, the children take matters into their own hands, setting out to make a difference in the world around them.

The film’s message resonated widely, earning it recognition as a semi-finalist at the 12th CMS Vatavaran Film Festival. Its success highlights the power of cinematic storytelling in addressing urgent global issues.

Lomharsh, an Indo-Australian filmmaker known for his impactful and thought-provoking content, continues to push boundaries in storytelling. His previous works, including Yeh Hai India, Chicken Biryani Series, and Mintoo, have all been lauded and awarded at several national and international festivals. With Planet, Lomharsh demonstrates his keen ability to weave socially relevant themes into engaging narratives that inspire audiences to act.

The film’s emotional depth is further enhanced by a moving music track composed by Kumar Deepak, with vocals by Altamash Faridi and Swati Sharma. The lyrics, penned by Nitu Pandey Kranti, add a poetic dimension to the visual storytelling.
