New Delhi [India], December 02: Renowned author and filmmaker Abhik Bhanu has achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024, being honoured with two prestigious accolades for his outstanding contributions to literature and cinema.
On October 24, 2024, he was awarded the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Gaurav Award for Best Director for his compelling film “1922 Pratikar Chauri Chaura”. Shortly thereafter, on November 30, 2024, he received the Indian Authors and Conference Award 2024 in the Political Thriller category for his gripping novel Lutyens’ Dilli.
This captivating novel follows Ladli, a young and ambitious woman, as she navigates the intricate and often shadowy corridors of power in India’s political capital. The story unveils a hidden nexus of influence, connecting brokers, bureaucrats, fixers, and secretaries with gangsters, pimps, and power-hungry elites.
Sharing his vision for the novel, Abhik revealed, “We are in talks with a prestigious television (OTT Platform) channel to adapt Lutyens’ Dilli into an OTT series. There’s a growing demand for stories like this, whether as series or feature films.”
He also announced plans to adapt his award-winning book “Stool Pigeon” (Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award, 2019) into a feature film titled Khabri Four Twenty.
When reflecting on his literary journey, Abhik shared, “I’ve written 10 books, including Dark Rainbow, Mahatma After 150 Yrs, Lutyens Dilli, Journey of life and Death, Enslaved by Time, Metamorphosis, Honcho, Mahata Ni Pratima, Blind Faith and Stool Pigeon. Eight have been published, and two are in the pipeline.” He added with a smile, “Readers can find my works on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Google Books, Pothi, and many more these books are selling in 66 countries thanks to Google Books.”
He explores the political thriller Lutyens’ Dilli, “Ladli’s story is one of resilience and empowerment. About his last released feature film on (30th June 2023, globally), he speaks “inspired by the Prime Minister’s call to reexamine the historic Chauri Chaura movement, 1922 Pratikar Chauri Chaura brings to light previously concealed facts suppressed during British rule. The film provides a fresh and authentic perspective on this pivotal event in India’s freedom struggle, offering audiences a deeper understanding of its historical significance.”
